Morning Announcements

Good Morning Swanson! Today is December 20th and it is a B Day!

  • We hope everyone has a restful Winter Break! Take time to read a good book!
  • Attention 6th grade students! Game Club will meet today in Room 110, Mr. Dewitt’s room. Come eat your lunch, have fun, and play games. Stop by Counseling or 110 for a pass.
  • Two years ago in Visual Arts classes, Swanson artists completed a place-based design challenge to use empathy and explore what was missing at Swanson. Students designed outdoor learning and eating spaces, new field seating, greenhouses, wayfinding graphics and more! Expert industrial designers, artists and architects gave students real feedback on their work. Our Principals decided that the wayfinding graphics was the most needed item that was missing. Last year, students went back to the drawing board and refined the wayfinding designs for the school. They came up with a layers of the ocean theme for our nautical Swanson Admirals. Each grade level will have a grade level color, a layer of the ocean associated with it and sea creatures from that layer as symbols. 8th grade is Sunlight, 7th grade is Twilight, 6th grade is Midnight. This January you will see artists busy painting in the hallways to install the environmental signage. The intention is to help anyone who enters Swanson to better navigate our building. If you are interested helping us, and you are not in Art class right now, join the ART CLUB on Mondays after school in room 214!
